Q. Please help with my non-radiating chest pain.

Hi doctor,

Since five days, I am having non-radiating chest pain after having a cup of coffee. There is no palpitations, sweating or other symptoms. My BP is right now 100/76 mmHg. The pain is tolerable, but occurring on certain movements and also when lying down it occurs. There is no past history of such a kind of pain and no family history. I do not have any general allergy or for drugs. While having food too it is little bit paining while the food is passing through trachea. I think it may be due to gas and took Rantac but that did not help. It is happening on certain postures and movement only. It is a kind of annoying to me. Please help as soon as possible.

Welcome to dr.sitehome.info.

I understand your concern.

  • Your chest pain seems to be muscular in nature. Another possibility is of acid reflux that can also cause such kind of pain.
  • We should also rule out any cardiac issue in case of chest pain. So, you should get a chest x-ray and ECG (electrocardiogram) done.
  • If the ECG and chest x-ray are normal then the pain is probably muscular or due to acid reflux.
  • For muscular pain, I advise you to do hot fomentation over the involved area for at least three to four times a day.
  • You can also apply Diclofenac gel locally over the involved area. On taking this treatment, it usually will resolve in five to seven days.
  • In case you have pain in abdomen and for acid reflux I would advise you to take a combination of Pantoprazole and Domperidone.

  • Investigations to be done:

    ECG and chest x-ray.
